Metal Casting at TEAM Rapid
Casting is a production process which metal is liquefied and poured into a mold and then cooled and solidified in to the shape of the mold cavity. Different types of casting methods include hand pouring, sand casing, investment casting, lost wax, spin, and centrifugal casting. Aluminum casting is a simple and inexpensive way to form aluminum into a wide array of product. Casting Products Examples like power transmissions, car engines etc are produced by aluminum casting process.
Casting process has been used for thousands
of years to make sculpture, jewelry, tools etc. At TEAM Rapid, we specialized
in providing tooling for melting down metals and pouring them into a mold. Our
graphite, steel and cast iron molds are available in a various shape and size
to meet customers’ specific requirements. We provide melt furnaces, crucibles
and torches for initial melting process. Our tools and safety gear handle
customers’ metal in casting process. When it comes to deal with precious metal,
metal casing is an ideal process. With the help of proper tools and equipment,
gold, silver, copper materials can be melted down in to bars or other forms. At
TEAM Rapid, we are able to handle necessary accessories and chemicals to refine
customers’ precious metals to a purified state. Our Metal Casting products are made
with the latest technology from design to production to obtain optimum
specifications and maintain high quality.
Casting is a original and the most widely
used method to form aluminum into products. Molten aluminum is poured into a
mold to duplicate a desired pattern. Die casting , permanent mold casting and
sand casting are the three most important methods. Die casting is a process
that forces molten aluminum into a steel mold by pressure. It is normally used
in high volume production. Precise aluminum parts which require less machining
and finishing can be manufactured by die casting method. Permanent mold casting
includes steel molds and core or other metal. Molten aluminum is poured into
the mold even a vacuum is used sometimes. Permanent mold casting can be stronger
than die or sand casting. When permanent cores are impossible to remove from
the completed products, semi-permanent mold casting techniques are used. Sand
casting is the most versatile method to produce aluminum products. Sand casting
process begins with a pattern which is a duplication of the finished casting.
This pattern is a little bit bigger than the part which is going to be made. It
allows for aluminum shrinkage in solidification and cooling. Sand casting is a
slow process and economical for low volume production.
Aluminum casting is widely used in
automotive industry. Cast products make up most of the aluminum used in cars.
In early 1900s, cast aluminum transmission housings and pistons were commonly
used in car industry. Small appliances, hand tools, and other machinery are
manufactured from different aluminum casting shapes. Cookware is the first
aluminum casting product which is often used by consumer. Aluminum is light
weight and strong which brings advantage when casting into parts. Die cast
aluminum is thin-wall with ribs and bosses on the interior to maximize
strength. According to an independent study, compared to steel, aluminum in
automobile has a 20% smaller life cycle CO2 footprint. Compared with steel
vehicles, aluminum vehicles save equivalent of 40 million tons of CO2 emission.
Metal casting can produce complex shape. With metal casting, internal or hollow sections can be achieved. Large part can be manufactured in one-piece cast. Casting is a cheaper process for medium to large quantities compared to other manufacturing processes. If you need help on your metal casting projects, contact us at [email protected] today.
